Annual Membership Meeting
Held every December, this event includes a local speaker of interest, a reception, and as mandated by our bylaws, voting on a slate of candidates for the Board of Directors and officers. The event provides the staff and the Board of Directors an opportunity to recruit new friends, members, and supporters.
Recent Annual Membership Meeting speakers include Don Kraus, 2011 (CEO, Citizens for Global Solutions). Dr. Charles Skinner, 2010 (Professor, University of Pittsburgh and 27-year State Department veteran) and William Pace, 2009 (Executive Director, World Federalist Movement and Institute of Global Policy).
Norman Cousions Global Governance Award

The Annual Membership Meeting also serves as the opportunity to present the Norman Cousins Global Governance Award. The Norman Cousins Award was established in 1991 to honor the memory of his contribution to world peace and the principles of federalism. Norman Cousins in the local media: “UN Best Hope–Cousins” and “No Nation Is An Island, Cousins says.”
The award is presented to an individual or group in the Western Pennsylvania area on the basis of an outstanding contribution to the peace, security and well being of the world community. Nominations and the final selection for the award are made by the board of Global Solutions Pittsburgh.
Recent Norman Cousin Award Winner include Chan Ketchum, 2011 (Chairman, Corporate Energy Advisors, LLC, retired), Jerry Clack, 2010 (Professor of Classics, Duquesne University) and Burkhart Holzner, 2009 (Director, University Center for International Studies, University of Pittsburgh, retired)
